Tjerk de RuiterTjerk de Ruiter is chief executive officer for Genencor, the biotechnology division of Danisco A/S. Prior to joining Genencor in 2006, Mr. de Ruiter held a number of leadership positions at Danisco A/S, including chief operating officer for Cultures, Specialties and Flavors, senior vice president, global sales and marketing, and president of Danisco USA. In, 2004, he was named to the Danisco A/S executive committee. Prior to joining Danisco in 1998, Mr. de Ruiter held a number of positions in the food ingredient industry including serving as chief operations officer for the Americas at Cultor Food Science, which was acquired by Danisco A/S in 1999. He also held positions at Quest International and Naarden International. A native of The Netherlands, Mr. de Ruiter holds a Bachelor in Business Administration from the University Nijenrode and a Master of International Management at the American Graduate School of International Management (Thunderbird).

Philippe LaviellePhilippe Lavielle (48) is executive vice president of business development at Genencor, the industrial biotechnology division of Danisco A/S. His current responsibilities include the development of sustainable businesses in the field of biochemicals, performance proteins and peptides, and in the emerging ligno-cellulosic biofuels sector, as well as head of the Fabric & Household care business segment. Lavielle is a member of Genencor’s senior management team and is also responsible for the Division’s Communications and Public Affairs. Lavielle started with Genencor in 1990 and held a number of international business development and management roles since then. In the mid 1990’s he was instrumental in establishing Genencor’s presence in Europe through a series of mergers and acquisitions. Prior to his current role and for almost 10 years, Lavielle had global responsibility for Genencor’s largest business division as vice president, fabric and household care enzymes. In the 1980’s, after a few years as a consultant with the Scandinavian Institute for Administrative Research (Sweden), Lavielle founded and became co-managing director of Biopulp International SA, a Franco-Finnish joint venture involved in the research and development of biotechnologies for the forestry and paper industries. A French National, Lavielle holds an MSc of management from the HEC Business School of Paris (1982). He is married and a father of 3. |
